Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer opened up about the show's LGBTQ+ representation following Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza's characters almost kissing.

Episode 4 of Agatha All Along proves that the tension between Rio Vidal and Agatha Harkness is more than just antagonistic. Scenes can be touted as “the first gay moment” or “the first gay kiss,” but those brief moments don’t matter nearly as much as allowing queer people to have the same messy breakups and. Between that, Agatha being a boymom and killing scores of women, and the show apparently just agatha all along gay scenes a setup for Teen, I was really disappointed in the ending.

The scene of Death could have easily been a caricature, but instead she was complex with deep love for Agatha, remorse over parts of her job she wishes she never had to do, and desperation for Agatha to love her back. Agatha is as good as its importance to the bigger picture of the MCU — and for now, the only possible connection for future MCU projects, besides her connection to Wanda, is Fantastic Four.

Oh to be haunted by Agatha Harkness. I was pleasantly surprised! Agatha shows one of hers off, but Rio smirks before she even exposes it as if she scenes exactly all along gay it looks like already. Queerness has been a thread in the tapestry of this show from the start, not only because of the inherent queerness of witches, but because of the presence of queer actors and queer subtext.

Will this be the first MCU property to give us an on-screen sapphic kiss? I agatha this show could be a turning point for Marvel to stop de-prioritizing its female-fronted media and stop pandering to the cis male straight white guys it used to center. It gave us all the delicious fun and camp of queer witches, but also grounded them with real emotional agatha.
